Our story started with one 4 year-old boy...he's the inspiration for a movement that has now fed thousands of kids!!

in the United States doesn't know where their next meal is coming from - we're creating a community to change this.

Our Story

The idea for Spoonful was born when Susan learned about a 4 year-old boy in her preschool class who had been going without a lunch the first 3 months of the school year. Unfortunately, he's one of 13 million children in the United States that face hunger on a daily basis. That's 1 in 6 kids! Join us in the fight against childhood hunger in the United States.

How it Works

Our Founder

My name is Susan Elwer, the founder of Spoonful Apparel. I grew up in a single parent household in St. Paul, MN that relied on welfare for food, housing, and healthcare. In 2015, I had a vision to create an new apparel brand with inspiring messages that would spark a new conversation. I had an idea, but hadn't found my purpose. In 2016, I learned about a 4 year-old boy in my pre-school class who'd gone the first 3 months of the year without lunch. In that moment I recognized an opportunity to be part of the solution - and ultimately found the purpose behind the apparel brand. Since launching in August 2017, Spoonful Apparel has created more than 128,200 meals for children in the United States...and we're just getting started! I invite you to join us in the fight against childhood hunger!
